B3: Demonstrates Adaptability

Assessment Method: Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio

Plain-English Explanation

B3 is about being flexible and able to adjust when things change—whether it’s a new system, a different process, or an unexpected problem. It means staying positive and finding solutions instead of getting stuck.

Examples of How Apprentices Demonstrate This at Work

  • Learning a new application quickly and helping others use it

  • Adjusting priorities when an urgent issue arises

  • Using Power Automate to create a quick workaround for a process change

  • Setting up mailbox rules to manage new communication flows during a system migration

  • Supporting colleagues during a roll-out by adapting to new tools and processes

Common Gaps and Misconceptions

  • Resisting change because “we’ve always done it this way”

  • Feeling overwhelmed by new technology instead of seeking help or training

  • Not communicating when struggling to adapt

  • Assuming adaptability means doing everything without guidance—asking for help is part of adapting
